I, Barbara Edmondson,hereby pledge to support the Ride for Resilience campaign by taking the following actions.
  1. workshop

    Get Involved!

    Start or join a local community group. Ideas: book group, film group, community newspaper, local advocacy group, gardening group, etc.

    • Join a local community group.
    • Or, start your own group.
  2. Food Stall

    Eat (And Drink) As Local As You Can.

    Where possible buy locally sourced food. Buy more from locally owned grocery stores. Buy fresh foods instead of packaged or frozen and eat seasonally.

    Actions to take
    • Find 10 local alternatives to things you regularly eat.
  3. Transport

    Use Sustainable Transport.

    For all trips less than 1 mile, walk or cycle

    Actions to take
    • Walk or cycle any trip shorter than 1 mile.
  4. Vegetarian food

    Become A Part-Time Vegetarian.

    If you are not already a full-time veggie: Get creative and skip on the meat for 3 full days each week.

    Actions to take
    • Go meat-free three days a week.
  5. Make do and Mend

    Make And Mend.

    Instead of buying new clothes, furniture, electronic goods, gifts and accessories.

    • Fix 5 things that need fixing.
  6. Windmill

    Be Energy Smart.

    Turn off all lights and appliances when you are not in the room or are not using them. Instead of leaving computers, stereos and TVs on stand-by...

    • Cut your energy by 15%.
    • Change to a green energy supplier.
  7. Planting

    Get Our Yer Green Thumb.

    Plant trees and flowers. Try to shoot for 5 new trees and 5 flower beds per year.
