Hello all
Well we are half way there and have already done over 2000 km of the ride! Last we wrote we were in Dijon in the North of France. Since then we have come all the way down the lovely Rhone Valley and crossed over the lesser Alps into Provence. In one day as we went over a mountain pass we went from wet air and fields of corn to dry crisp breezes; pines; and the smells of the ocean and herbs growing in fields and window boxes...the Mediterranean! We have met our friends in Aix en Provence where we rested for a few days and then we set off Northwards for a few days in the Alps: JUST AMAZING!! In one climb we cycled over 2000 feet straight up on roads etched into cliffs on the side of a white mountain. Below we could see the thousands of feet deep Canyon du Verdon...the deepest in Europe. Leaving the Alps we wound down and down; dropping over 3000 feet in a single descent back to the ocean at Nice. Last night we were on the beach drinking wine and tomorrow we set off for Italy. Apologies for the lack of updates as of late!! Our phone failed us so we have not been able to keep you up to date. We hope to have it sorted soon.THANKS FOR ALL OF THE PLEDGES!! We hope that everything is well and looking forward to writing again. SPREAD THE WORD!!
Much love,
Mike and Helena
