We are in Napflion, Greece and have just passed the 4000 km marker (which was the estimated goal for our ride)!
Since helena wrote last we have come through some amazing country- lots of olive groves and orange trees, high marble peaks in Arkadia, Byzantine cities perched on cliffs and of course the fair share of ruins along the way. We have really loved Greece and the people have been fantastic- really laid back, very helpful and quick to smile. The lifestyle is much less fast paced as well- mostly family run super markets, little country roads, and not a McDonalds in site.... mix that in with big blobs of feta cheese (everyday for lunch) and young, cheap, sweet family made wines..... and we are pretty happy campers.
Still a few big storms..... actually last night was the BIGGEST storm that I have ever camped in and today there is flooding everywhere so much that we can't cycle. Oh well... still enjoying it and especially enjoying the day off in the cafe.
Can't believe that we only have 1 week left to go! A part of me is already excited for the final push and what lies beyond..... and a part of me is already becoming sad to know that the end looms. The trip has been amazing... one of the best adventures of my life... we feel so lucky to have been able to experience what we have.
Have met some wonderful people and have seen some beautiful things.... really looking forward to sharing stories and photos with everybody when we get back.
Keep up the pledges and talk to you soon!
