Ride for Resilience

More from Greece

Well the weather has taken a turn for the worse again, after several days of sunshine, cycling through Greece..... so at the moment we are sitting out the storm in a trendy beachside cafe in Stoupa.

We have cycled ove 3800 km and figure we have about 300km to go.  We realised we would probably have time to kill in Greece and so decided to take an extended ride down the Messiniakos gulf........adding a few hundred km to our trip, but it has been gorgeous so far.  We cycled along the coast for a while yestereday and then off inland and into the mountains, past quaint traditional greek villages and a group of shepherds...........moving their herd of goats and sheep off up the road to pasture.  Don't worry we have pics of everything.  We dropped down a winding road into the beautiful town of Karadmili, stopping for hot chocolate and spinish pie in the town before heading out to hide away amongst cyprus trees, on a cliff overlookin the ocean for camp.

On Halloween, we spent most of the day wandering the ruins in Ancient Olympia - spectacular to see the ruined temple of hercules (once one of the seven wonders of the world) and to run a lap of the ancient olympic stadium, where 12 centuries of games were played before the Romans came on the scene.

We hope to be in Sparta in 2 days, although the weather suggests we're in a for a few more days of rain yet :-(

Looking forward to staying a campsite and getting a shower.

Only 10 more days of cycling to go.

Still loving it, but almost ready to be do done....... we still have a few treats in store.......plans to visit  several more ancient towns before reaching Athens and the end of our trip.

Phone is still not working, so hope we find more internet points to keep you all updated.
